macs don’t crunch numbers
Windows get more virus
but as of last December Mac users are not immune to virus they just don’t know about them till it is out of control as they BELIEVE they are immune and don’t check their machines
Xp is an 8 year old Operating System (I think?) and as such, doesn’t contain many of the features expected in a modern Operating System. This doesn’t impact many users as most of them only use XP, but for users who have tried Mac OS X, a modern Distribution of Linux, or even Vista/Windows 7, it can be very noticeable.
The other disadvantage is that it’s 64bit version isn’t as advanced as other Operating systems, so modern Dual-Core 64bit processors are not being used to their maximum.
I recently gave up on using XP due to instability issues for heavy users like myself, and have went to only using Linux.
I have a fully modern Computer, yet still choose to use a “low- footprint” distro, as it allows me to make the most of all my computing power. (I am using Crunchbang Linux and, while it does not yet have an official 64-bit version, is still better than using XP)
