Useful Windows XP Tips And Tricks (May Work On Vista)

This is a Windows XP Tweak. Visit PCWizKidsTechTalk.com – Tips and Tweaks Make Windows XP bootup faster with a quick registry tweak. The StartupDelay Controls the time delay after a system startup before Indexing Service. This tweak does not disable anything, it just removes the unnecessary wait time. Notes from video Navigate and expand in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex Change the Decimal value of the Startupdelay key to 40000 and restart the PC.   19. Is there anyway to make my XP desktop show a thumbnail view of my pictures. Meaning show the picture without clicking as if it where in an open folder?

  21. What I hate about XP is having a file with the same name in a folder, it won’t allow you to automatically rename, that is why I use DOPUS.

  39. Unfortunately it did nothing for me. I did this tweak and the other with multicore in msconfig. My boot up time was 10 seconds before the tweak, and 9-10 seconds after. At least it’s good to begin with and my SSD helped a lot. I don’t have a slow bootup, but I just wished it would have made it even faster, lol

  41. @danieldvs100 well if you have a black screen you could have a blown blacklight (the light that brightens your monitor)

    or a virus my sisters vista computer does that and i believe its a virus for hers because every once in a while it will boot up correctly and now nothing

  43. I don’t see how this can improve speed at all. This value only affects *when* the index service starts. So it may actually cause the machine to take longer since it would force the index service to start sooner. It would be better to just disable/delete the index service, and I might try deleting the entire ContentIndex key.

  45. @EdJjuh You could put either but you won’t gain any speed. This value is used to control the delay before the file indexing service runs.

  46. @TheKlink Because performance would be improved by starting the indexing service after windows has finished loading.

  49. @Krisando yup its old and im not going to spend 300 dollars on a pro video card on a old $300 computer Computers aren’t my sorta thing However my 67′ mustang is lol I know i gotta grab 1 gig

  50. @freakyflow – You’ve got an averagely serious video card, but your ram amount is a joke. 512 is the sort of thing you’d get in the early 2000′-2002s.
