Windows Vista TIP – Pin to Start Menu
Please RATE or Comment if you want more tips like this. If you saw my Windows 7 video you might have seen the Pin to Start menu option. Well you can have this in Vista also. Video notes: Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers Create a subkey and name it {a2a9545d-a0c2-42b4-9708-a0b2badd77c8}
LIKE THIS TIP! PLEASE TAKE A SECOND TO RATE MY VIDEO. CHEERS! =========================================== A useful feature known as user account auditing is not turned on by default in Windows Vista. Turned it on and log all attack attempts to login to your PC. Applies to the Ultimate Edition only of Vista.

I already had that option in my right click. But thanks anyway PCWizKid. You still got the best tips out there.
it DOES NOT work! :’(
i am on vista ultimute
on xp works!! OMG THANKS DUDE!
or u can just drag it?
Right Click and select “Remove from this list”
Had to delete the character space at the end of the cut&paste string to make it work.
@autexcbaty , right click on the shortcut in the start menu that is pin and select the remove option.
Great BUT how do you UNpin?
@bloodfalkon, you dont understand the tip. Its for those that want to add the Pin to start menu because they are missing it. not everyone has the option. not everyone drags things, some like a quick right click option.
this vid is a disappointment…for the first vista tip you have made in a while id expect something good…but this is lame…
the easy way of doing the same thing:
Step 1: Drag
Step 2: Drop
going through all of that is really unnecessary…
drag shortcut over on top of the start orb
let go
????
PROFIT!
upgrade to 7100, the beta key for activation still works and it won’t expire for a year!

cant u just drag it?
@frvfilms
Oh I should have added it on there that I do use Emc2 for my CNC, and that is through Ubuntu. But that is as far as I go. LOL. As far as gaming goes I have my gaming rig running Windows 7 for now and when that expires I have a copy of Vista to install.
yeah, thats a popular argument about gnu/linux distros-but its not as hard as it seems, it like everything u just have to get used to it
i too am scared of cli and almost never use it,
4gaming you can intall “wine a windows emulator”
u can allways give mint a try i hear its the easiest ever..
I have a better tip: Just Drag from Desktop to the Start Menu
nice
I have a tip! don’t use vista, use windows 7
This does not work on my computer. It works with Vista right?
I couldn’t find it either at first but then i found it in the windows old directory. When I first rebooted the OS, it saved a copy of the old OS on the HD. Found it in there. type cmd in the search bar on the start button then type dir/a/s/p secpol.msc if its there u will find it

I have the Home Edition.. Before I read the posts, I was baffled and somewhat alarmed that my puter was drawing a blank. Thanks for the comments and responses. I was a worried there for awhile. I’m just a semi-geek, no pro joe.
can windows vista home premium log onto a domain? does anyone out there know?
Years of practice
I like how you can describe everything so quickly. By the way I ill be getting Ultimate soon.
Makes sense to me. I’ll make a note to say so in the video next time. Sorry for the confusion.
Please specify which version the tips work with in each video. Most folks are not going to have Vista Ultimate.
You are correct, accessing the security policy is not an option for the Home Edition unfortunately. My tips vary and some are generic for all Vista Editions, some like this one is not. I posted the differences on my blog for you.
i don’t think this works on home premium since my computer can’t find secpol.msc
