Any problems with installing Win 95 on XP computer?
I want to be able to run Windows 95 on my laptop that already has XP. I don’t want to run them at the same time. I should be able to just load it onto a separate partition and it will be like having two computers, am I right? I can just choose at bootup which OS to run? The 95 shouldn’t mess with my XP? The reason I want 95 is so I can play some older games. But if it’s going to mess up my computer…any tips? Thanks.

Have you tried using compatibility mode under Windows XP? This is a less radical option than dual-booting an antiquated OS.
As long you run both them on separate drives they can happily coexist.
I cant see any problem with running windows 95 and it woulld be interesting to give it a try.
jus install microsoft virtual PC which splits d memory depending upon d OS 2 b installed… u can even manually do dat.. moreover if u want micro… virtual pc 2007… i hav dat i can attach it nd fwd it 2 u…
yous hould be able to do that, just make sure that when you install, you resize the current partition and make a new partition, don’t delete the partition you already have, because then all of your data is gone. But if it is just for games you should be able to find some type of emulator, with a quick google search for “windows 95 emulator” that would probly be easier because having two OSes gets annoying very fast
There shouldn’t be a problem running Win 95 on the laptop. The only advice I would give is that you use it SOLELY for games. The file system used on Win 95 (FAT16 or FAT32 with Service Pack 2 or above) has very little security.
Moreover, I believe there is a limited amount of ram you can use on Win 95. I’ve heard that people using computers with over 512 MB of ram couldn’t use Windows 95 because it wouldn’t boot up. Some say only 256 MB! In other words, if you have more than that, forget about it.
Windows XP has a “Compatibility Mode” that will (theoretically) install a program on your XP but will run it like an older Windows (95, 98, or Me). I tried to use it exactly once (with Tomb Raider), and it failed miserably.
So installing Windows 95 is no problem if you don’t go on the internet, have only about 256 MB of ram, and don’t mind that Microsoft isn’t officially supporting it.
Hope this helped!
