What Internet Security Virus tool program works well with Windows 2000 professional?
I am using an old Windows operating syatem (Windows 2000). I do not wish to use Norton 2005 since the reviews say it sucks up all your memory and slows the computer down. I really, really need to protect my computer when I get on the internet as I have received several viruses. Please, can you suggest a reputable product?

AVG http://www.avg.com it’s the best antivirus you can get for free
Defender Pro 15 in 1 by Kaspersky. You will find no better for 30 bucks a year that really works. And it’s low on memory use. Stay away from free ones like AVG No free one will keep your system secure. The kids here on answers seem to love AVG. I will never know why. It has the lowest detection rate out there and it just plain sux. Avast is a little better but uses to much memory. Especially on . windows 2000. You get what you pay for. I have tried all the free ones and at one time or the other they let me down. AVG let 182 Trojans on my machine and never even detected them until it was to late. The damage was already done. Avast, Memory hog, Norton, Memory hog , McAfee, Low detection and a memory hog. Comodo firewall. Not as good as they claim . The best i found is Kaspersky. It has it all and it works. Here’s What other answers are saying about it.
