I bought this drive to upload software to a netbook. The drive came before the netbook, so I connected the drive to my desktop Mac. It recognized the drive but failed to successfully read the disk either under OS X or Parallels. I, wistfully, hoped that the drive was simply incompatible with Apple products.
When my netbook arrived, I connected the drive. The NB recognized the first disk I put in, but failed to read it. I then inserted my installation disk for MS Office 07. No luck. It would not read it.
Frankly, the drive is a finicky piece of crap. It was just $20, so I don’t feel too bad about the purchase, but I clearly should have gone in a differ direction.
The denouement of the story is that the NB connects nicely to a Parallels based network. You can then install any software using the DVD/CD drive running under Parallels.

I just received this product today and I can’t get it to work. I have the external cd drive hooked up to my computer and it just keeps ejecting the disc everytime I put one in. Why is it doing this? How do I get it to stop?? I am trying to install software. I would like to talk to someone with customer service but can’t find a phone number anywhere….

but I got what I paid for, so not really mad LOL. Installed fine, but broke within 24 hours. I am holding the door with my finger so it will read the cd. Then it refuses to open. Very flimsy! Good if you have to install minimal software in a jiffy.

Dud out of the box. The vendor offered to exchange, but not worth the postage to return. I tried many CDs, all of which worked in other drives, but although it installed and the netbook reported it as working, it would not read a disk.
